About the Role:
The Software Lead provides hands-on architectural direction across multiple Meduit software products and development teams, creating an integrated application ecosystem that enables each product to evolve independently while remaining easy to connect through intentional API design, shared patterns, and reusable technical approaches.
This is an individual contributor role with significant technical influence. The successful candidate will guide engineering decisions, collaborate closely with product, development, data, support, and operations stakeholders, and contribute materially to application delivery through design, coding, technical reviews, and direct implementation of key solutions.
Title: Software Lead
Schedule: First Shift Monday - Friday
Department: IT
Compensation: $150,000 - $180,000
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and evolve system architecture across several products, services, APIs, user interfaces, and data platforms to support scalable, maintainable, and well-integrated application delivery.
- Provide architectural direction and technical guidance to multiple development teams without direct people-management responsibility.
- Design integration patterns that allow individual systems to mature independently while continuing to interoperate through clear contracts, API standards, event or messaging patterns, and shared technical principles.
- Code application features, integration services, proof-of-concept solutions, reusable components, and other material deliverables as a senior hands-on engineering contributor.
- Collaborate with lead developers, data development, product management, support, implementation, operations, and quality assurance to align architecture with product goals, customer needs, delivery timelines, and operational reliability.
- Evaluate technical tradeoffs and communicate recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Establish practical engineering standards for API design, full-stack development, security, observability, performance, reliability, maintainability, and deployment readiness.
- Contribute to user interface architecture and implementation using modern frameworks such as Angular and/or React.
- Support database architecture and application data-access strategies across SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
- Partner with teams to modernize legacy capabilities, improve integration quality, reduce technical debt, and create durable patterns that can be reused across products.
- Provide technical direction for integrations involving healthcare revenue cycle management workflows, customer environments, automation, and related operational processes.
- Assess and, when appropriate, contribute to solutions involving telephony and messaging APIs, including texting-related integrations.
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, production-readiness reviews, incident learnings, and technical planning sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies:
- Strong systems-thinking capability with the ability to connect product, data, API, user experience, and operational concerns into a coherent architecture.
- Advanced full-stack development skills, including modern UI frameworks, service/API development, database design concepts, and application integration patterns.
- Ability to move between architecture, design, code, troubleshooting, and mentoring without treating architecture as a purely abstract discipline.
- Practical understanding of healthcare revenue cycle management (RCM) concepts, workflows, compliance sensitivity, and customer-impact considerations.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, service contracts, integration patterns, authentication/authorization concepts, and secure application design practices.
- Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies, data modeling considerations, query performance, and application data-access patterns.
- Experience creating user interfaces with Angular and/or React, including reusable components, state management concepts, accessibility considerations, and maintainable front-end architecture.
- Familiarity with telephony, SMS/texting, or related communication APIs is desired.
- Excellent verba
