About the role

Pre-Construction Management

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Projects and other key stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their project requirements and ensuring their satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Determine project viability and identify potential risks or challenges.
  • Prepare project plans, including timelines, resource requirements, and budgets, in alignment with client expectations and organizational objectives.
  • Coordinate with design and engineering teams to develop detailed project specifications and construction plans.
  • Provide direct input to engineering scope and technical knowledge.
  • Oversee Document submittals.

Construction Management

  • Oversee the execution of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Monitor and manage project budgets, resource allocation, and utilization, ensuring optimal project performance and profitability.
  • Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and quality control measures to maintain a safe working environment and ensure project compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and status updates, addressing any issues or risks proactively and implementing corrective actions as needed.

Financial Management

  • Collaborates with the Project Controller to develop cash flow projections and submits them to the Home Office and Owner as required, ensuring accurate financial planning and reporting.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, including cost estimation, tracking, and control measures.
  • Monitor and analyze project financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing cost-saving strategies.
  • Review and approve project expenses, invoices, and change orders, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and financial regulations.
  • Collaborate with the finance department to provide accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and projections.
  • Ensure effective contract management, including negotiation, review, and administration of contracts and subcontracts.

Post Construction Management

  • Conduct project closeout activities, including documentation, final inspections, and client handover.
  • Evaluate project performance and lessons learned, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing best practices.
  • Provide post-construction support to clients, addressing any warranty claims or issues promptly and effectively.
  • Foster long-term client relationships, seeking opportunities for repeat business and referrals.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure smooth project transition and integration into ongoing operations.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management or a related field is desired.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management or related field, preferably in the manufacturing or construction industry
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies, tools, and techniques
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required to project sites across Canada and the USA
  • Proficient with reading and understanding eCMS Cost Reports
  • Capable of preparing cash flow projections
  • Capable of preparing monthly project report (monthly cost summary and project financial status)
  • Ability to prioritize requests and manage projects to meet target delivery dates.
  • Able to analyze customer requirements, create specifications, input to proposals.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc
  • Advanced knowledge of scheduling and the use of Primavera
