General Statement of Job
Under regular supervision, verifies at the point of service reimbursable meals, enters reimbursable meals into point of sale system and collects money from individuals purchasing meals in the school cafeteria. Completes required reports, to include production records, with accuracy and completeness.
Counts money and prepares deposits. Reports to the Area Site Lead.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Enters reimbursable meals into the point of sale system and collects money from individuals purchasing meals in the school cafeteria. Maintains accurate meal counts.
Completes required reports -- including revenue, participation and special sale reports -- with accuracy. Performs edit checks.
Ensures that all Production Records are completed each day before the end of the shift.
Closes out point of sale system, counts money, and runs edit checks to check for meal counting errors at the end of each day and prepares bank deposits, and totals vendor invoices as needed.
Receives and responds to questions and requests for assistance from students or parents, providing friendly customer service.
Responsible for preparing meals and ensuring all students and customers receive high-quality meals during all meal services offered.;
Acts as a team leader by assigning and reviewing work of co-workers. Assists in training new cashiers and food service operators.
Operates a variety of equipment, such as an accu-scan machine, computer, calculator, fax machine, telephone, etc.
Provides friendly interactions and great customer service for various groups and individuals, such as immediate supervisor, school personnel, district-level personnel, co-workers, students, parents, etc.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Assists food service operators in setting up serving lines and with simple food preparation; assists in maintaining a clean and orderly cafeteria.
Reports equipment malfunctions and maintenance issues to Area Site Leaders, and follows up with appropriate personnel to ensure completion of applicable repairs.
Reports absences to Area Site Leaders in a timely manner after receiving notice from co-workers.
Performs general clerical duties as needed, including answering the telephone and making copies of documents.
Performs related duties as required. May be required to work at other schools as needed to fulfill the needs of the operation.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Requires a high school diploma supplemented by five to eleven months of cashiering experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
