We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to join the Media Deliver Platform team at Snap Inc!

What you’ll do:

• Help drive the technical vision of video playback for Snapchat app. 

• Optimize playback performance end-to-end from UI/UX, video player, prefetching strategy to network layer. 

• Optimize media quality and make conscious tradeoffs between quality and performance to maximize user experience.

• Influence key decisions and tradeoffs on architecture and implementation of media platform components that support playback.

• Work cross functionally with Data Scientists, stakeholder teams to identify & execute on high impact playback optimizations.

• Help grow a team of exceptional software engineers and be a strong technical mentor

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Excellent programming and software design skills, including debugging, performance analysis, and test design

• Proven track record of developing mobile code base at scale

• Ability to proactively learn new concepts and technology and apply them at work

• Skilled at solving ambiguous problems

• Strong collaboration and mentorship skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as computer science or equivalent experience

• 9+ years of software engineering experience

• Experience with iOS application development

Preferred Qualifications:

• Expertises in building mobile playback stack 

• Expertises in playback performance optimizations

• Expertises in media quality selection to maximize user engagement
