Position Overview
QinetiQ US, is seeking a Program Analyst - Public Affairs/Communications to work in Arlington, VA. This position supports a program within the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD) for Research and Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Research and write/create new presentations, talking points, press releases, and other communication pieces that address complex and high-profile issues; advise and consult with the customer on messaging and communications strategies; create in-depth communications on a range of subjects.
- Produce clear communications through a wide range of styles and formats, including formal speeches, PowerPoint presentations, blogs, letters, articles, op-ed and bylined pieces, and social media channels.
- Tailor messages to serve the needs of different audiences, including employees, clients, media, social media, students, industry participants, and community organizations. Additionally, messaging should be in coordination with strategic communications plans for OUSD (R&E).
- Coordinate with the OUSD (R&E) executive administrative support to ensure logistics, security clearances, communication, and coordination with contacts at speaking venues and events is accomplished in support of OUSD (R&E) engagements.
- Provide recommendations on acceptance, deconfliction, and priority of speaking engagements/events in close coordination with the Public Affairs specialist, executive administrative support staff, and government personnel in the OUSD (R&E).
- Provide advice, recommendations, and help manage media queries with the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs (OSD PA).
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of five (5) years of recent and relevant experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, journalism or communications is required. At the discretion of the Government, specialized experience including military or industry executive assistant experience may be substituted in lieu of specific educational requirements.
- Top Secret – ability to obtain and maintain SCI ; #Qinetiqclearedjob
- Advanced skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel in order to develop visual representations of complex/technical concepts required.
- Proficient with social media and ability to develop and carry out social media communication strategies.
- Ability to write and create presentations quickly and meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate to different audiences using multiple applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in communications, journalism, or media, is preferred
- Highly preferred experience and skills in communications, public relations, and/or journalism at the DoD and/or service component Headquarters level
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
