Summary
The District 3 Materials Office is looking to hire a Transportation Engineer Associate to help support the Office and District Construction Engineer. You will have the opportunity to provide materials inspection experience under the direction of the District Construction Engineer while working towards gaining your Professional Engineer license.

Location: Sioux City District Materials Office
Shift Requirements: Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM. Hours may vary, and some overtime may be required. Some overnight travel is required.
As a Materials Transportation Engineer Associate, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Oversight of all materials inspection, sampling, and testing activities by District Materials Office staff.
- Inspection and monitoring oversight of recycling production plants, PCC and HMA plants, aggregate production facilities, precast facilities, and steel fabrication facilities.
- Provides highway materials technical assistance through consultation to a variety of customers, including Iowa DOT staff, County/City/Consultant staff, contractors, and materials producers.
- Oversight of the project materials audit process.
- Oversight of the Independent Assurance Program (IAP) for materials testing in the District.
- Oversight of the District's Technical Training and certification program, including some direct training duties as needed.
- Oversight and management of the District Materials Office operating budget.
- Involvement in technical committees and work groups to improve Department specifications, processes, and policies
Requirements:
- Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
- Possession of an Engineer Certificate issued by the Iowa State Board of Engineering Examiners is required within 24 months of hire. Licensure as a Professional Engineer is required within 6 years of hire for continued employment as a Transportation Engineer Associate.
