Job Description

Overview: 

To serve as the area specialist in safety and security by developing and carrying out procedures in collaboration with the local facility operations that will effectively control incident rates and health exposures in the company and minimize overall work related and site incidents.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Responds to and investigates work-related injuries. Notifies management of pertinent details.  
  • Guides and assists plant personnel with all levels of safety and health opportunities.
  • Reviews facility incident trends and makes recommendations for implementation of corrections.
  • Supports internal forklift and aerial lift certification processes.
  • Interact with 3rd party organizations to fulfill project completion goals safely and effectively.
  • Collaborates with worker’s compensation Department on work related injury information. 
  • Supports various safety training programs. 
  • Validates incident report information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Investigates incidents with cross-functional team members to determine root cause and effective corrective actions.
  • Monitors safety programs, policies, and procedures that meet OSHA and other applicable laws and regulations. 
  • Assists with the development and execution of programs as listed above.
  • Conducts scheduled audits to determine workplace hazards and assists in development of corrective actions. 
  • Utilizes Oracle application to create supply requisitions and work orders for repairs.
  • Conducts exterior security patrols. 
  • Perform and document security equipment inspections as assigned. 
  • Respond to calls for service, including alarm and incident response as well as routine calls for service such as locking and unlocking doors. 
  • Maintains a complete understanding of site emergency procedures. 
  • Report security activities and make necessary adjustments and/or recommend improvements. 
  • Participate in daily pass-downs to next shift specialist. 
  • Support special events with traffic control or other necessary Security items. 
  • All other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager.

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • High School Diploma required. ( AA/AS Preferred )
  • Proficiency in computer usage, email, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) 
  • Understanding of packinghouse/warehouse processes and flow operations. 
  • Well-developed observational and analytical skills. 
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills. 
  • Able to work flexible schedules/shifts as needed for 7-day operation. 
  • Proven skills for planning daily/weekly tasks and adapting to competing demands. 
  • Strong skills developing relationships across all levels and functions. 
  • Knowledgeable in the application of OSHA/CALOSHA regulations. 
  • Knowledgeable of the worker’s compensation process. 
  • Experience in administering personnel policies and procedures. 
  • Must project a positive and professional image. 
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing. 
  • Must be able to make decisions within scope of job. 
  • Be readily receptive of additional training for the broadening of skills. 
  • Must be able to work autonomously within scope of job duties.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Pay Rate: $25.23 an hour.
