THE POSITION

The Staff Data Governance Analyst will be a member of the Data Governance Team whose mission is to ensure FanDuel data is compliant,  of high quality and well governed.  This role will function as a technical expert in efforts to automate, enhance, and support data governance projects and programs. As part of this, the Staff Data Governance Engineer will assist in designing and improving data governance processes and tool integrations across a complex technical landscape, providing protection and integrity throughout the product lifecycle and data flows.  Additionally, this role will support efforts to measure and report on compliance as it relates to data governance standards.

You will directly contribute to the success of our data governance strategy by working cross-functionally with data, legal, marketing, engineering and product across our global footprint for FanDuel.

Data Governance works closely with engineering, legal, information security, operations, back-end services and front-end technology teams to drive our governance strategy designed to ensure quality data that is both secure and compliant with internal and external compliance & legal guidelines.


THE GAME PLAN
Everyone on our team has a part to play

  • Represent the Data Governance team in discussions with technical and business stakeholders globally as a subject matter expert on our toolkit and roadmap
  • Support metadata management processes and standards across all of the data domains to ensure data integrity and standardization
  • Promote a culture of data governance by developing partnerships with data owners and stewards to promote data governance best practices
  • Outline and help implement data governance performance and standards, while developing and implementing operating plans to achieve those standards via audits, automation and processes
  • Identify and communicate improvements in the design and effectiveness of key controls and processes including automation
  • Serve as a SME on product interface and capabilities for select data domains
  • Understand business requirements, translating them into actionable specifications including how data should be governed


THE STATS
What we're looking for in our next teammate

  • BA or BS in Information Systems, CS, Data Management or Analysis or similar is desired.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a data driven function and role such as a data governance analyst, quality assurance analyst, product owner, data analyst, or similar role diligently applying principles, practices, and theory
  • Strong sense of ownership over deliverables, as this role will have end-to-end responsibilities for certain processes and procedures
  • Good skills and knowledge of facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate anywhere from the team level to C-level executives.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to communicate business value and obtain buy-in for process and culture changes

Preferred:

  • Minimum two years of experience in the technology industry, knowledge of clickstream datasets a plus.
  • Experience with Data Governance tools such as Alation, Collibra, Informatica, etc.
  • Experience with Data Quality tools and/or Data Classification tools
  • High familiarity with data platforms and applications such as S3, Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, Airflow and BI Tools such as Ta
