Job Summary

Join a talented group of 75 dietitians at the University of Virginia Health System in beautiful Charlottesville, Virginia. At this level one trauma center, dietitians play an integral role on multidisciplinary teams in many specialty areas, both in the 675 bed inpatient setting, as well as in over 35 outpatient clinics. RDs participate in research and quality improvement projects, host dietetic interns, and are supported in pursuing leadership and community service experiences. Continuing education opportunities are plentiful from within the accomplished nutrition team and from the health system which values ongoing training and education.

This full-time position will include adult inpatient coverage and will include coverage of a variety of patient populations.  This is a great role for both new RD's and more experienced RDs alike.  Our collaborative RD team fosters a good role for learning but simultaneously allows RD's to participate in a high level practice with a wide scope that allows for continued growth.  With a number of opportunities for professional growth (involvement in the School of Medicine, intern mentorship, quality improvement, etc.), this position will work closely with nursing, the medical team, therapies, social work, and case management to care for patients admitted to the hospital and following an oral diet. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides medical nutrition therapy including nutrition assessment, diet modification, nutrition education, and intervention for the patient population
• Follows all guidelines as outlined within the Company Diet Manual and the Clinical Nutrition Policies & Procedures Manual
• Complies with all regulatory standards to include federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPPA regulations, and patient rights policies
• Trains and mentor’s patient services staff and interns as applicable
• Participates in patient satisfaction programs, departmental meetings, and facility wide Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement programs

 

Qualifications:

• Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
