Senior Accountant

Our partner is seeking a Senior Accountant in El Segundo, CA who will be responsible for performing complex accounting functions for the Government Staffing Strategic Business Unit (SBU).

Responsibilities:

• Support the Government Controller with month-end and year-end closing tasks, as well as in the preparation of monthly financials, annual budgets, and quarterly reforecasts.
• Prepare monthly and ad hoc journal entries.
• Prepare various general ledger account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.
• Assist and prepare items needed in conjunction with annual financial audits.
• Manage the updating of individual project budgets on an as-needed, but no less than quarterly, basis.
• Ensure that accounting transactions are in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations, and Defense Contract Auditing Agency (DCAA) standards.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree or a total of five years of accounting experience, with three years in Government Contracting accounting.
• Proficiency in advanced MS Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
• Ability to effectively prioritize work to meet deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
  
• Three years of Government Contracting accounting experience.
  
• Experience with payroll and expense report management.
• Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
• Experience with NetSuite and/or Daston is a plus.
• Experience in public accounting and/or holding a CPA certification is a plus.
