About the role
Position Summary
A truck driver is responsible for movement of product both within the site and between local company locations and warehouses. Operates a variety tractor-trailer equipment including flatbed and bobtails as needed. Ensures product is delivered to the specific location on time and in good condition, he/she will also report back to the plant any issues or concerns that the receiving location may have with the product or deliveries. Responsible for recording activities using a variety of mediums such as voice/radio, paper processing, and computer/touch screens supporting YMS and related databases for product and component management.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities
- Drives truck to different locations.
- Insures that product arrives on time and in good condition.
- Maintains a driving log using both manual and electronic devices as needed
- Follow GMP's
- Unloads truck when needed.
- Verifies shortages and damaged products.
- Maintains a clean and professional appearance and builds customer relationships.
- Trailer yard inventory
- Follow national soak policy
- Follows use of trailer safety equip-trailer stand
- Vehicle inspection log
- Review of fuel, seal and refrigeration safety or trailer
- Radio communication with Receiving and Shipping Department
- Stage of empty and full trailer as needed
- Employees may infrequently be assigned to perform other tasks on a temporary basis." During the temporary assignment, the employee must still maintain compliance with all plant policies but will not be disciplined for productivity- throughput performance."
- Responsible for actively supporting the other members of the employee's work team including assisting with cross-training, new-hire/buddy assignments, and process support during breaks, meal periods, and other staff coverage as needed.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Class A CDL Required
- Must have a clean driving record over the last 6 months while working.
- Able to communicate in English.
- Customer service skills.
- Ability to meet flexible scheduling needs to cover a 24/7 operation.
- Complies with all current DOT regulations.
- Must be able to climb stairs or step up onto a platform to enter and exit truck cab several times throughout the shift.
- Must be able to work 6 or more consecutive days including overtime, any shift, including late nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instruction.
- Working conditions include a cold atmosphere (30-34 degrees) wet surfaces and moderate to high noise levels.
Required Education and Experience
- Minimum 1 year of over the road delivery and or local runs with clean safety record
- Class A CDL
