Duties and Responsibilities for an Associate Drives Engineer:

• Develop automated machine control solutions that meet customer specifications, safety standards, and functional requirements
• Interface with customers, sales, and project managers to ensure effective communication
• Collaborate directly with team managers and project engineers
• Review designs and oversee onsite commissioning activities
• Manage project commissioning (ensuring that systems are operational, safe, and reliable, ready for client use) by coordinating with the project team and job site personnel
• Establish and approve commissioning plans according to project guidelines
• Participate actively in field installations, servicing at customer sites, and commissioning drive control systems
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive commission records, documenting site observations, testing processes, and checklists
• Contribute to manufacturing checkout and customer shop tests as required
• Compile commission report data for summarization and reporting purposes

 

Experience and Qualifications for an Associate Drives Engineer:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related technical field, or Associate Degree in Electrical Technology with applicable experience
• Strong understanding of electrical circuits, power electronics, and motor control theories, including AC/DC drives, servo drives, and variable frequency drives (VFDs)
• Proficiency in control systems engineering, including PID control, feedback loops, and PLC programming, preferably Siemens
• Experience with automation technologies, sensors, actuators, and instrumentation used in drive systems
• Ability to use software tools and programming languages relevant to drives engineering
• Skilled in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and control system issues, using tools like oscilloscopes, multimeters, and diagnostic software
• Basic knowledge of power generation, transmission, and distribution, as well as power quality issues and solutions
• Understanding of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, and coordination of drive system projects
• Proficiency in technical communication, report writing, interfacing with customers, and documentation of engineering processes and designs
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Willingness to travel 20%-25%
