Job Profile Summary:
The Manager, Marketing Ops Content Quality Review role is responsible for reviewing and editing Aetna® communications across a wide variety of assigned business areas for voice, tone, style, plain language, clarity, grammar and brand standards. You will ensure that written communications are high-quality, error-free and aligned with the company's goals. You will provide feedback to internal contributors and subject matter experts to address revisions and rewrites as needed.
You will exhibit outstanding writing judgments and achieve the highest possible standards for all materials. You must have strong knowledge of the company’s business, style and consistency standards and will train colleagues to help them understand communications requirements and brand and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Review and edit communications materials (for example, publications, marketing materials, ads, scripts) for clarity, grammar, references and readability while following voice, tone and style guidelines.
- Ensure all projects are error-free, delivered on time and exceed required quality standards while verifying edits are implemented correctly, editorial review checks are run, facts are validated, and disclaimers and trademarks are confirmed.
- Work collaboratively with multiple business partners to secure adherence to company’s brand, voice, plain language and marketing compliance standards and contribute constructive feedback to internal writers and contributors through assorted stages in the review process.
- Possess an understanding of the health insurance industry, client’s health benefits products, audiences and business objectives, and execute on copyediting that aligns with the client’s vision.
- Demonstrate interest in facilitating and leading colleague training sessions, in addition to primary role responsibilities.
- Learn Workfront platform and work within the framework to move pieces through workflow to legal and compliance.
- Proactively identify and act on opportunities for operational efficiencies and improvements.
Required Qualifications
- 5 plus years of copywriting or copyediting experience
- 5 plus years of health benefits insurance marketing and communication expertise
- Ability to maintain consistent voice and audience focus in writing, and have the ability to “boil down” verbose content to the “essence” of the main message, using plain language skills
- Demonstrated ability to adapt style of copy to various audiences, purposes or media
- Ability to work harmoniously with others, to get a job done and lead the team in a collaborative fashion
- Strong organizational skills and an eye for fine detail
- Comfortable working independently and with a diversity of team members
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience working within Workfront a plus
- Experience using (or willingness to learn how to use) AI tools such as Writer, ChatGPT or Copilot to supplement their review process, proof and/or enhance copy
- Understand writing applications in traditional and emerging channels
- Knowledge of compliance and legal requirements (disclaimers) surrounding copy
We support a hybrid work environment. If selected and you live near a suitable work location, you may be expected to comply with the hybrid work policy. Under the policy, all hires for in-scope populations should be placed into a hybrid or office-based location, working onsite three days a week.
Aetna Service Operations office/hub locations will be discussed with the selected candidate.
Education requirements
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in English, marketing, communications, advertising, business, or equivalent work experience).
