Job Summary 


 The Accounting Manager, Financial Planning & Operations is responsible for financial analysis, budget development support, operational finance improvement, and selected accounting and invoicing functions in compliance with GAAP, 2 CFR Part 200, government and donor requirements, and Peninsula Family Service policies and procedures. This position partners closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, cost analysis, process improvement, and special projects designed to strengthen financial operations and efficiency. The Accounting Manager also supports the annual audit, assists with monthly financial analysis, oversees certain invoicing functions, and supervises the Accounts Payable Accountant.

ESSESSAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Budgeting, Analysis, and Financial Planning


· Support the CFO in development of the annual agency budget, program budgets, grant budgets, and budget revisions.

· Maintain and improve budget models, forecasting tools, and other financial planning templates.

· Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial analysis for the CFO, program leaders, and leadership team.

· Analyze budget-to-actual results, staffing patterns, spending trends, and other financial data to identify risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

· Oversee cost allocation methodologies and implementation to ensure costs are allocated accurately, consistently, and in compliance with applicable funding requirements.

· Prepare ad hoc reports, financial models, dashboards, and decision-support tools for management.


Finance Operations, Audit Support, and Process Improvement


· Help identify and implement efficiencies in finance operations, workflows, reporting, and internal processes.

· Assist with development, documentation, and improvement of finance procedures and internal controls.

· Oversee cash management activities, including monitoring cash balances, tracking cash flow needs, and coordinating cash transfers and related banking activity. 

· Support month-end and year-end closing activities as assigned, including analysis, reconciliations, and journal entries.

· Support the annual independent audit by preparing schedules, analyses, and documentation as assigned.

· Prepare or oversee selected monthly invoicing, billing, and related reconciliations for contracts, grants, and other receivables.

· Review financial terms of grants, contracts, and other funding agreements and support implementation of fiscal requirements.

· Partner with the CFO and finance team on special projects, including system improvements, report redesign, and cross-functional finance initiatives.


Supervision and Team Support


· Supervise the Accounts Payable Accountant, including workflow oversight, annuals review and goal setting, training, and performance support.

· Provide backup support for selected accounting and finance operations as needed.

· Perform other duties as assigned by the CFO.


Requirements

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit accounting
  • Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and Excel skills
  • Experience with financial systems, data analysis, and ad hoc reporting
  • Ability to interpret grant, contract, and program financ
