About the role

Guardian Life Insurance Company of America (GLIC) has established a Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Delivery (TRAID) organization focused on partnering with the business teams by spearheading enterprise transformation, automation, transparency, and strategic execution to continuously improve delivery, reduce waste, increase productivity, and ultimately positively impact GLIC’s bottom line. This team will look to empower the many positive changes already happening in GLIC by providing a multidisciplinary integrated approach to business architecture, process optimization & improvement, our operating model, digitization, insights, portfolio management & reporting, and more.

 

The Business Transformation & Transparency Lead is accountable for Business Architecture, Process Optimization & Improvement, Operating Model Solutions, and Organizational Insights. This role will report to the head of GLIC Transformation, Artificial Intelligence, and Delivery in the organization’s Strategy and Corporate Development division.

 

The ideal candidate for this newly created role, will have strong independent leadership competencies, deep business and technology acuity, and the ability to influence and drive change across a complex successful organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Business Architecture

  • Support and mature multidisciplinary end-to-end views of the organization providing alignment across business strategies, experiences, processes, data, technology, integration, and infrastructure.
  • As part of a federated model, this will be done in close partnership with many organizations including business areas, Customer Advocacy, Digital UI/UX Design, Business Architecture, Data & Analytics, Technology, Strategy, HR, and more.

 

Process Optimization & Improvement

  • Systematically analyze and improve business processes in close partnership with the businesses to achieve maximum efficiency, effectiveness, and quality.
  • Develop a more formal optimization community (including Six Sigma, Design Thinking, etc as determined appropriate).
  • Establish and mature a companywide pipeline, governance, and benefits tracking of processes optimization opportunities using an Enterprise Benefits Framework to track the business value generated by these opportunities
  • Provide a framework for addressing Transformational AI use cases that look to reimagine core parts of our business.
  • Investigate modern ways and tools to identify and document core processes and their behavior including process discovery, task mining, and digital shadowing.

 

Operating Model Solutions

  • Establish, promote, and support best organizational practices throughout Guardian, for example a Product Operating Model, Agile and Scaled Agile (SaFE).
  • Shift 2025 budget process from project based to capacity-based budgeting.
  • Potentially conduct a Business Agility Assessment in close partnership with Technology and the Businesses focused on the maturity of our scaled agile approach and the output of solution teams, making improvements based on recommendations.
  • Ensure consistent deployment of our operating model and consider new models (e.g. Product Operating Model) as needed.

 

Organizational Insights

  • Provide timely transparency and ensure regular management review of the company’s key metrics to empower a data-driven organization for optimal decision making and the removal of impediments.
  • Build out company-wide dashboards that provide real time, monthly views of key metrics for managing the organization.
  • Fix underlying root causes of data issues that have hampered transparency in the past in close partnership with organizations that are the sources of record (E.g. HR, Finance, etc).
  • Manage the Quarterly Business Review process with a focus on strategic alignment, transparency, decision making, and removing impediments.

 

You Have:

  • 15+ years of consulting, professional services, digital strategy development, PMO, advisory, or transformation programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT or Management or equivalent work experience, required. Advanced certifications preferred.
  • Provide direct and indirect leadership, leading strategic project(s) related to change & adoption, organizational design, operational excellence, operating model design, data and business analysis, and technology adoption.
  • Extensive experience in operating model and process design (process flows, narratives, operating procedures, control frameworks) and documentation preparation using Visio (or similar application).
