UC Health is hiring a Full Time Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor for the Central Monitoring unit at the UC Medical Center. 

 

The Clinical Shift Supervisor assumes the responsibility for ensuring excellent patient care is being delivered, maintaining expeditious patient flow with a focus on customer service, and supervision of nursing staff. The Clinical Shift Supervisor will provide input on staff evaluations and complete evaluations for their regular staff cohort. The Clinical Shift Supervisor will also assist with cost containment, and manage all employees to do the same. The position requires knowledge of leadership and effective interpersonal communication skills.

The Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing. The Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor requires knowledge regarding operational leadership of shift including patient flow and assignment/adjustment of resources to meet dynamic changing needs throughout the shift. The Clinical RN Supervisor will actively identify opportunities for improvement in patient satisfaction, perform trials and report back to leadership on results. 

Supervises staff assigned to their unit or center of excellence and demonstrates the ability to coach and mentor staff. 

  • Leads and implements operational improvement initiatives and assures compliance via staff coaching and mentoring. 
  • Identifies needs for specific equipment and ensures adequate and properly functioning equipment and supplies are available for patient care. 
  • Ensures shift practice is in compliance with state and federal medical laws (EMTALA, HIPAA, and House Bill 316). 
  • Maintains hospital-wide and department-specific nursing competencies and completes annual competencies in the required time frame. 
  • Collaborates with the Department Educator and/or provides orientation and educational needs identified in the department. 
  • Engages staff in departmental performance improvement (PI) activities according to the department PI plan. 
  • Provides immediate counseling for staff when specific behaviors or incidents negatively affect patient care or the general work environment. Write up incidents. 

 

Leadership:  

Supervises staff assigned to their unit or center of excellence and demonstrates the ability to coach and mentor staff. Operational leadership of shift including patient flow and assignment/adjustment of resources to meet dynamic changing needs throughout the shift. Champion efficient throughput and capacity management. Benchmark internal processes to improve practice. Lead and implement operational improvement initiatives and assures compliance via staff coaching and mentoring. Ensures staff behaviors supports and are consistent with the RITE Values, Missions and Vision of UC Health and University Hospital. Provide transformational leadership as related to PFCC. Assist with developing and revising of departmental standards, policies and procedures. Staffing and scheduling responsibility for cohort of staff and shift. Promote patient care safety standards.
