JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Wilkes-Barre is seeking applicants for the part-time Athletic/Recreation Services Support position. This position provides support, coordination, facilitation, and/or leadership for athletic and recreational activities and facilities—including intramural sports programs.

Responsibilities may include delivering instruction for fitness classes and wellness programming; provide a robust intramural program offering, may provide health and wellness initiatives.

SAMPLE WORK ACTIVITIES:

  • Support the daily operations of athletic/recreational facilities and/or activities
  • Enforce rules and regulations of athletic/recreational facilities and/or activities
  • Monitor areas such as fitness centers, climbing walls, swimming areas, and intramural sports venues
  • Track facility and equipment usage; document and report maintenance problems, unusual conditions, and damages to the supervisor
  • Adhere to safe and appropriate use of all equipment and modalities within established guidelines
  • Assess the needs and interests of individuals and groups and plan activities accordingly, given the available equipment or facilities
  • Provide facilitation, leadership, and assessment for recreational activities, including intramural sports leagues and tournaments, private lessons, wellness courses, and clinics
  • Assist in the organization, scheduling, and promotion of intramural sports programs

 

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
