About the Job
The Operations Counselor plays a key part in ensuring the smooth function of the overall JCamps experience for campers, parents, and staff. The Operations Counselor works closely with the JCamps administrative team to provide consistent support for the operational needs of JCamps.
You’ll wow us by masterfully performing the following key duties and responsibilities:
- Work with JCamps administrative team to transport late camper drop-offs to their bunk and early camper pick-ups to their pick-up location.
- Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of camper snacks and lunches.
- Print, copy, and scan materials as needed.
- Assist with preparation of camp program, including supply purchasing, sorting, and organization.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding program participants and JCamps staff.
- Serve as substitute counselor in the event of a counselor's absence during the core hours of camp.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Eligible candidates must be at least 18 years old. Eligible candidates also must have graduated from High School or obtained a GED by the start of camp. Experience with Elementary Aged children (grades K-6) is preferred. JCamps staff are required to pass all criminal history background checks, including an FBI fingerprint check. They must also obtain a current CPR and First-Aid certification.
- Operations Counselors are based out of the Youth and Teen Office but will be expected to execute daily responsibilities throughout Shalom Austin’s campus. Due to the nature of the position, Operations Counselors must be able to be on their feet for most of the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds. Operations Counselors must have the ability to be outside and handle Austin summer heat.
- This position is a seasonal full-time position. The expected hours are from 8AM-4PM Monday through Friday, with opportunities to work until 5:30. Seasonal work begins June 1 and goes through August 1 with opportunities to work through August 15. Hours are subject to change based on the camp’s needs.
