Job Description
Haile Gold Mine located in South Carolina is the largest gold mine on the East Coast of America. Our employees are at the heart of all we do. To provide leadership, technical advice, mentoring and quality oversight, while ensuring the safety and work output in the tire maintenance area.
- Demonstrates personal responsibility for own health and safety and develops an understanding of the legal requirements, HSE standards and standard operating procedures relevant to their direct work area.
- Works well with others, listens actively, seeks inputs and asks clarification questions to check understanding staying focused and composed in a variety of work situations.
- Ability to supervise mentor and technically develop lessor experienced personnel.
- Effectively manages own and team’s time to complete tasks in line with job expectations and requirements adjusting plans to cater for unforeseen events / disruptions.
- Recognizes problems and proactively works towards resolution under the guidance of the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Recognizes opportunities to minimize waste and addresses it according to the HSE and operational standards and practices.
- Expert in the coordination of all areas of tire and rim maintenance.
- Work in accordance with MSHA, OceanaGold Safety System, Safety Policies and Procedures and Oceana Environment policies and all departmental operating procedures.
- Tire software Kling, Otracom, Emtrack etc.
Safety
- Ensures personal and team compliance with all company HSE requirements & policies including Fitness for Work.
- Ensure the management of tires on site is compliant to the relevant MSHA, OceanaGold and site requirements.
- Completes any HSE tasks only if the hazards and any potential consequences are understood and managed to an acceptable level of risk.
- Undertake task observations relating to tire changes both at the tire facility and in the field.
- Manage rim NDT program in alignment with MSHA and OceanaGold requirements.
People
- Supervise the tire contractor to ensure safety, compliance and productivity.
- Proactively work with tire OEMs to review performance to ensure the best products and services are being utilized.
- Facilitate tire trials in partnership with Production and Maintenance.
- Works constructively within a diverse group of people and departments.
- Mentors all personnel allocated to the Tire area.
- Verify competence via qualifications and physical observation of new personnel.
- Delivers consistently on commitments and takes accountability for their own and the tire technicians’ development.
- Provide regular tire awareness training to the mine production team.
Production
- Oversight and participation of all aspects of tire maintenance activities.
- Accurate data capture and management of tire and rim changes.
- Work constructively with the Mine Production team to deliver improved tire life and lower costs.
- Forecasting tire usage including tire rotational changes.
- Planning and scheduling of tire and rim changes.
- Monitoring progress of tire maintenance underway.
- Ensure documentation, maintenance and changeout records for equipment tires are complete and kept up to date.
- Communication and coordinating with the planning team and attending planning meetings.
Cost
- Actively seeks cost reduction opportunities and identifies & reports any cost wastage within designated area.
- Lower the Haile operation tire cost per hour/ton.
Qualifications
- TIA 400 Earthmover Tire Instructor essential.
- TIA 300 Earth Mover Tire Technician essential.
