Fingerpaint is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant to assist with the management of our biweekly payroll processing and contribute to general ledger accounting functions. This role requires a good understanding of payroll regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to maintain accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work independently and collaboratively within the finance team. Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing:
- Process biweekly payroll for all employees accurately and timely, including salaries, wages, deductions, and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Manage employee payroll inquiries and work with Finance and People & Culture teams to resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related reports (e.g., tax filings, 401(k) contributions).
- Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll laws and best practices.
- General Ledger Accounting:
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Perform account reconciliations (e.g., accrued expenses, prepaids, etc.).
- Assist with accounts payable and invoice processing.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights as needed.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Assist with other accounting tasks and projects as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and general ledger accounting.
- Good understanding of payroll principles and relevant laws and regulations.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience with ADP or other similar payroll platforms.
- Experience with payroll & accounting integration and acquisitions.
- Experience processing payroll in multiple states and jurisdictions.
