Job Description
GE Vernova is advancing the future of industrial operations by integrating cutting-edge robotics and AI technologies to automate repetitive tasks within complex operational facilities. Through this internship, you will help pioneer robotic solutions that enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity in high-volume material handling, manufacturing processes, and component refurbishment environments.
In this internship, you will collaborate closely with operational teams and engineering experts to innovate and prototype intelligent robotic systems designed for real-world industrial settings. You’ll gain hands-on experience incubating automation solutions that address repetitive work challenges common in large-scale production and logistics environments. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to the digitization and modernization of foundational industrial workflows. You will:
Engage with shop floor technicians, process engineers, and operations supervisors to define automation needs in manufacturing, warehousing, and remanufacturing workflows.
Design, develop, and prototype robotic models and AI-driven control algorithms targeting repetitive manual operations that affect throughput and quality.
Integrate robotic solutions with existing operational platforms and data systems to enable seamless automation management and monitoring.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams within GE Vernova to ensure alignment between robotics solutions and broader business goals.
Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks and areas with high automation potential, applying data-driven insights to optimize workflow design.
Deploy physical AI prototypes in controlled operational environments, measuring improvements in task efficiency, accuracy, and workforce safety.
Document robotic system performance, including task execution before-and-after metrics and scalability considerations.
Develop intuitive user interfaces and operator workflows to facilitate adoption of robotics tools with work streams.
Present findings, challenges, and recommendations to stakeholders through detailed reports and presentations.
Project Outcomes:
Successfully prototype and demonstrate robotic solutions that automate repetitive tasks within industrial operational environments such as manufacturing, warehousing, field service, or remanufacturing.
Deliver measurable improvements in task cycle time, accuracy, or safety as validated through before-and-after performance data.
Produce detailed documentation of development processes, integration challenges, and system impact to support knowledge transfer and future scaling.
Develop operator-friendly workflows and interfaces that enable effective human-robot collaboration and promote adoption on the shop floor.
Present clear, data-backed recommendations for scaling and deploying robotic automation across similar operational settings.
Foster strong cross-functional relationships and communication channels to ensure robotics solutions align with operational needs and business objectives.
Primary Skills Developed:
Robotics technology development, including AI-driven automation and prototype evaluation.
Integration of physical AI systems into industrial operational environments and platform ecosystems.
Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder communication within complex manufacturing and logistics settings.
Principles of industrial workflow design and human-robot interaction.
Strategic problem solving in high-volume, repetitive task automation.
