Morgan Stanley is seeking an Economist at the intermediate level to join the US Economics team. The role will report to the US Chief Economist. The successful candidate will be a thoughtful, innovative subject matter expert with breadth of experience and ability to produce market-leading, differentiated research.

Primary Responsibilities include: 
·         Analyzing and reporting on US macroeconomic data and US policy developments
·         Maintaining and developing proprietary macro indicators for the US 
·         Contributing to thought leadership on the US economics team
·         Participating in collaborative research projects with sector analysts and macro strategists 
 

·         3-5 years of applied work experience in analyzing the US economy is a must. 
·         PhD in economics or a related quantitative field required 
·         Advanced analytical, econometric and programming abilities required 
·         Public sector experience, esp. Federal Reserve or US Treasury, would be preferred
·         Expert level macro modeling skills using structural macroeconometric and DSGE models would be a plus 
·         Knowledgeable in standard software packages incl Bloomberg, Eviews, R, Stata, or Matlab
·         Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $150,000 and $200,000 per year for Associate, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
