In this role, you’ll play a key part in developing and ensuring best-in-class trade finance processes, securing competitive trade finance solutions, and supporting our sales teams in contract negotiations. Your expertise will help manage commercial credit risks while optimizing cash flow—making a real impact on Valmet’s global operations.

As a Senior Trade Finance Specialist / Trade Finance Specialist you will:
Control that the commercial credit risks are mitigated and Valmet Contract Policy is followed
Effectively and proactively supporting the businesses in all trade finance activities. Your main internal stakeholders being the Sales, Legal, Project, Logistics and Finance operations.
Support the sales in contract negotiations and with contractual wordings of the commercial terms, such as payment terms and financial securities,
Support the business project operations through out the execution of the projects relating to the trade finance instruments
Negotiate and manage Trade Finance instruments such as bank and corporate Guarantees and Letters of Credit
Arrange trainings within Valmet to ensure that we have the adequate knowledge and competence in Valmet to manage financial risks according to Valmet policies
Develope Trade Finance processes and systems together with the team and seek efficiency through different ways of digitalization and utilizing AI
The role will be adjusted according to the candidate’s experience.
To succeed in this role, you have:
Strong team working mindset and result oriented with can-do attitude.
Master’s degree in Economics or in a relevant field
A minimum of 5 years of experience in Trade Finance, preferably including also experience from the corporate side
Deep understanding and knowledge of Bank and Corporate Guarantees and Letter of Credit
UCP600, URDG758, ISP98, SWIFT (MT798) knowledge is a benefit
Experience in Trade Finance related systems and tools will be considered as an asset
Strong written and verbal communication skills in Finnish and English
Strong negotiation and influencing skills
Ability to work independently, be flexible and adapt to changing situations and timetables
Ability to work in multicultural matrix organization, build-up and maintain relations across multiple regions and areas
