Classification:

Full-time (40 hours per week). As a member of leadership, the Director is expected to maintain schedule flexibility to support departmental operations, including coverage for call-ins and participation in weekend or special events when necessary.

SUMMARY
The Director of Registration and Security is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and coordination of all patient registration functions and hospital security operations for Hale County Health Care Authority (HCHCA). This position ensures efficient patient access services, regulatory compliance, revenue cycle integrity, and a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The Director provides supervision to Registration Clerks and Security personnel, ensures compliance with hospital, state, federal, and local regulations, and promotes a culture of professionalism, accountability, patient satisfaction, and safety throughout the organization.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Registration Leadership

  1. Directs, trains, supervises, and monitors all registration processes to ensure accurate and timely patient intake.
  2. Ensures the accurate registration of patients, including proper demographic, insurance, and financial information collection.
  3. Oversees point-of-service collections and supports revenue cycle integrity.
  4. Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policies and procedures in compliance with hospital, state, federal, and local regulations.
  5. Ensures compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards.
  6. Begins, maintains, and concludes QAPI projects and prepares reports related to patient access, registration accuracy, and patient satisfaction.
  7. Conducts disciplinary actions in accordance with hospital guidelines.
  8. Organizes and conducts regular department staff meetings.
  9. Informs and updates all registration staff on changes related to HCHCA policies, as well as State and Federal regulatory updates.
  10. Performs registration clerk duties as necessary to maintain workflow and service standards.


Security & Safety Management

  1. Provides leadership and oversight of hospital security operations, including supervision of security personnel.
  2. Develops and implements security policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  3. Ensures compliance with applicable state and federal safety regulations, including CMS Conditions of Participation and emergency preparedness standards.
  4. Coordinates response to security incidents, disturbances, and emergency situations.
  5. Investigates and documents security incidents and collaborates with administration and local law enforcement when necessary.
  6. Participates in hospital emergency preparedness planning, drills, and disaster response activities.
  7. Provides staff education related to workplace safety, de-escalation techniques, and security awareness.
  8. Maintains required logs, reports, and documentation related to safety and security activities.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Attends leadership, staff, and educational meetings as required.
  2. Collaborates with other department directors to ensure smooth patient flow and hospital operations.
  3. Assists with audits, surveys, and accreditation activities.
  4. Adheres to dress code, attendance standards, and all hospital policies and procedures.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned by Administration.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  2. Minimum of four (4) years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred, including supervisory experience.
  3. Knowledge of patient registration systems, insurance verification processes, and healthcare revenue cycle functions.
  4. Knowledge of hospital safety standards, security operations, and regulatory requirements.
  5. Ability to function efficiently in a stressful and fast-paced rural healthcare environ
