Statement of the job

The University of Maine at Fort Kent is seeking to hire a Certified Athletic Trainer. This is a 10 month position from August 1- May 31. The Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing quality health services to student athletes, serving as a liaison between the athlete and the physician, and performing other University duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. This position works closely with the Athletic Director in regard to the Athletic Department policies and procedures as they relate to the student athletes’ health care. Works directly with student athletes and all coaches in the administration of their programs regarding health care for the student athletes (ex. medical clearances reports, physical exams, physician referrals, insurance, and consent forms, safety equipment). The Athletic trainer is expected to travel with the University Teams. 

Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the salary for this position is $42,436.00 plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan.   Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents.  The UMS is a recipient of the Wellness Councils of America’s Well Workplace Award and offers wellness programs.

Qualifications (required and preferred) 

Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years relevant experience 
  • Certified Athletic Training License

Preferred: 

  • Master's degree 

This position requires the ability to travel within and outside the state of Maine.
