Special Education Aides (Life Skills, ECSE, Self Contained, BAC) 2026-2027

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Provide for the physical and instructional needs of individual students with disabilities inside and outside the classroom. Assist in the implementation of individual education plans, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the immediate direction of a certified teacher. Provide supervision on school buses as necessary to insure the safety of students with special needs. Provide assistance to the bus driver in loading and unloading students who are in wheelchairs or who cannot use the bus steps.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

• High School Diploma/GED
• An Associate's Degree or higher, or the equivalent of at least 48 semester credit hours from an accredited college or university
• Educational Aide Certificate or Bachelor's Degree

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Ability to work well with parents of children with disabilities
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Experience:

• One year experience in working in an educational environment preferred.

CALENDAR: 187 work days

SALARY: Contingent on Experience
Minimum - $19,867
