The Director Engineering works in the Engineering department of Refresco North America and reports into the Vice President of Engineering and Project management. This position is responsible for driving improvement in the areas of cold/hot fill in the manufacturing organization in 5+ facilities throughout the his region. The Director of Engineering leads a team of project engineers and is responsible for medium to large project portfolio. The Director of Engineering applies sound project management and continuous improvement principles relating to manufacturing across multiple facilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage a team of project engineers responsible for scope, specification, design, approval and execution of;
  • PET line projects.
  • CAN line projects.
  • CSD and Hot filling technologies.
  • Product processing, blenders, Pasteurizer, cooling tunnel (etc).
  • Refrigeration projects (expansion/construction of NH3, glycol, and/or Freon systems, including compressors, condensers, heat exchangers, etc.).
  • Boiler and hot water projects (boilers, heaters, piping systems and heat exchangers).
  • Electrical service expansion projects (transformers, switch gear, power distribution).
  • Compressed air projects (high and low pressure compressors, dryers, accumulators, piping).
  • Water treatment projects.
  • Waste Water treatment projects.
  • Physical construction to be included (floor drains, floor treatment, storm drains, walls/doors, penetrations, roof work, lighting upgrades, brownfield/greenfield work).
  • Responsible for communication, interviewing and hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, leveraging team and individual strengths, managing performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and solving problems to ensure high performance results.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching for the hiring, onboarding, and developing of new engineers within Refresco.
  • Develop engineering specifications, procedures, and estimators consistent with infrastructure and utilities projects.
  • Research, investigate and propose new technology, vendors, and solutions to infrastructure- and utilities-related projects and initiatives.
  • Provide strategic support and guidance for Refresco initiatives in the areas of ESG, utilities and infrastructure.
  • Actively manage internal and external personnel activities over the course of Refresco projects. This will include team of direct reports, contract engineering services, turnkey suppliers, OEM technicians, and contractors.
  • Ensure safe, timely execution of all projects in compliance with all OSHA, NEC, state/local, and other safety guidelines.
  • Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining a safety policies as required by law. Recognize hazards and implement corrective actions to minimize the risk associated with them. 
  • Other duties as assigned, including special projects that may require significant travel to manufacturing plant locations.

    Required Skills and Competencies:

    • MS Project, AutoCAD and other standard programs and systems for drafting, updating, modifying, designs and project plans.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate from the executive level to field service personnel/contractors on both a technical and cross-functional basis.
    • PMP certification preferred.
    • PE license preferred
    • Lean Manufacturing background preferred

    Education and Experience:

    • 7+ years’ experience in civil and/or mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing and Management, preferably in food and beverage pro
