The Production Planner is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient use of resources while meeting customer demand, inventory targets, and delivery commitments. This role works cross-functionally with manufacturing, procurement, inventory control, and sales to balance capacity, materials, and timelines.
The day in the life of a Production Planner...
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on demand forecasts, orders, and capacity
Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure schedules are feasible and adhered to
Monitor production progress and adjust plans as needed to address delays, material shortages, or capacity constraints
Analyze demand forecasts, inventory levels, and lead times to support planning decisions
Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure materials availability
Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and inefficiencies
Communicate schedule changes and priorities clearly to stakeholders
Track and report key performance metrics such as on-time delivery and schedule adherence
Support continuous improvement initiatives in planning and production processes
Maintain accurate planning data in ERP/MRP systems

QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience:
2+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain operations required
Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or high-volume production environments strongly preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Computer Skills:
Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM) preferred
Experience working with cross-functional teams
