Job Overview

The Principal, Tech Program Manager drives strategy, direction, planning, and execution for large initiatives. They oversee multiple project teams across various departments and/or FOB’s, ensuring efficient resource utilization and meeting deadlines. Responsibilities include managing program risks, financials, change management, ROI analysis, stakeholder relations, and program governance. This role involves tailoring program-related communication to different audiences and may include managing relationships with third-party vendors. The Principal, Tech Program Manager collaborates with Project Managers to monitor project cost, schedule, and technical performance, ensuring alignment with program goals. They also coordinate resource allocation across projects to maximize program outcomes while performing other assigned duties as needed.

 

What You Will Do

  • Lead highly complex enterprise-wide or cross-functional programs, ensuring integrated solutions are coordinated and standardized across the organization.
  • Direct all program-related activities and ensure accountability for the successful execution and final delivery of the program and its work products.
  • Secure senior management approval for the program by presenting the program charter, including high-level costs and benefits, to proceed to subsequent phases. Conduct regular project status and quality meetings, and provide reports.
  • Maintain timely communication with management and key stakeholders regarding project or program progress, status, and concerns for each assignment. 
  • Review project metrics and facilitate the development of project scorecards to ensure enterprise-wide program success. 
  • Address program issues by identifying and selecting appropriate courses of action based on program constraints and objectives to maintain program momentum.
  • Develop program communication plans and effectively communicate with the executive management team, project teams, and stakeholders.
  • Foster business partner and project team relationships, manage expectations, and provide excellent customer service. 
  • Establish alliances with other departments by recognizing dependencies to assess potential partnerships and commitment to the program.
  • Lead the project team in implementing standards and processes throughout the project lifecycle. 
  • As the designated Program Manager, conduct toll gates and provide input into project performance reviews for each team member. 
  • Provide vision, strategic leadership, governance, and support to the Project Management Team through professional guidance, coaching, and counseling.
  • Provide input to ensure adequate project staffing, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Demonstrate regular, dependable attendance and punctuality. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Skills You Will Need

Leadership: Ability to lead highly complex enterprise-wide or cross-functional programs, ensuring integrated solutions across the organization.

Communication: Maintaining timely communication with management and stakeholders on project progress, issues, and concerns. Developing effective communication plans tailored to diverse audiences.

Stakeholder Relations: Managing relationships with stakeholders and fostering alliances with other departments to support program success.

Project Team Leadership: Providing strategic leadership, governance, and support to project teams, ensuring adherence to standards and processes throughout project lifecycles.

Technical Acumen: Advanced technical and business knowledge in policy development, with experience in software development preferred.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Outstanding analytical skills with attention to detail, strong documentation, organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
