About the role:
OfferUp is seeking a driven, hard-working Legal Intern to assist with relevant legal tasks and projects. This is an excellent summer internship opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in legal or compliance. The internship is full-time (up to 40 hours a week). The intern will enjoy the professional experience of seeing how an in-house legal department operates internally and in partnership with other internal OfferUp departments. This temporary role (estimated to be between 10-12 weeks in duration) will have the ability to influence OfferUp’s Legal department and gain valuable experience by:

- Providing support for ongoing projects by processing and tracking critical data
- Researching and responding to internal requests in a timely manner
- Building internal reference pages for company policies and terms of service
- Maintaining internal privacy compliance tools and assisting with deploying privacy tools or processes throughout the organization
- Creating and updating Legal presentations
- Managing the contract intake process for agreements with vendors
- Owning administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and other day-to-day responsibilities
- Identifying potential areas of improvement across the Legal and HR functions, implementing scrappy solutions as needed

- Develop an understanding of relevant Legal tools and systems, preparing you for entry into jobs in similar fields
- Develop a practical understanding of the contracting process and contract management
- Learn more about the B2B contract life cycle
- Gain exposure to the day-to-day activities of a corporate Legal department
- Understand what it means to own the end-to-end process for tracking, auditing, and managing employee files
Requirements for the position:
- You are actively enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school and in good academic standing.
- You have just finished your 2nd year of law school. Law students finishing their first year of law school are welcome to apply but preference will be given to candidates who have finished their 2nd year.
- You are adaptable with a proven ability to learn quickly in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.
- You are driven and have a proven ability to work independently and use sound judgment in decision-making.
- You can manage a variety of fast-paced deadlines with a patient and positive attitude.
- You understand and respect the sensitive nature of confidential information and can navigate complex situations and tasks discretely and efficiently.
- You have a strong attention to detail and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- You can succeed in environments where structure is needed but does not yet exist.
- This role is an in-office hybrid with the requirement to come to OfferUp HQ in Bellevue approximately two days per week. This role is not fully-remote eligible.
Compensation range: $28.50-$31.35/hr.
Individual salaries within our ranges are determined through a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
In regard to vacation time, full-time, non-exempt employees will receive 160 hours of paid vacation per year (pro-rated if they start on a date other than January 1). Each year, full-time, non-exempt employees may carry over a balance of 40 hours of vacation time to the following year. In regard to sick time, all full-time employees (exempt and non-exempt) will be granted 12 days (96 hours) of sick time per year (pro-rated if they start a date other than January 1). Interns will receive paid vacation and sick time using the same methodology as full-time, non-exempt employees. Interns will be granted the appropriate pro-rated amount of vacation and sick time for the length of their internship.
