As Chief of Staff, you will report directly to the President & GM of Datavant’s newest vertical, Legal and Insurance, and collaborate closely with the Leadership Team to spearhead strategic initiatives and oversee key projects that influence the company’s trajectory. This role provides the opportunity to make a significant impact on Datavant’s long-term growth by driving the execution of high-priority initiatives that accelerate our mission to deliver new treatments to patients more rapidly and efficiently.
In this position, you will act as a trusted advisor to the President/GM of Legal & Insurance, amplifying their effectiveness by managing key priorities, shaping strategic direction, and fostering cross-functional alignment. You will take ownership of special projects from ideation to implementation, ensuring seamless coordination across teams while cultivating strong relationships with external stakeholders, including investors, advisors, and industry executives.
Location: Dallas, TX - Hybrid (3 days a week in office); if not local to Dallas will require 40% travel to Dallas office.
In this role you will:
- Lead and execute major initiatives that elevate the Legal and Insurance organization, working across teams and product verticals to solve enterprise-wide challenges.
- Own key operational functions including reporting, budget management, quarterly business reviews, support with Board meeting preparation, and leading Legal & Insurance leadership meetings to ensure seamless execution and alignment.
- Oversee and facilitate Legal & Insurance President-led meetings, ensuring all stakeholders are prepared ahead of time, agendas are impactful, discussions are valuable, and that individuals are accountable for action items that drive measurable outcomes.
- Partner with the Supporting teams (Executive Assistant, Finance, Legal, and HR) to plan and execute engaging and effective offsites, ensuring alignment on priorities, clear roles and responsibilities, strategic direction, and team cohesion.
- Attend and contribute to executive staff meetings, synthesizing key takeaways and ensuring follow-through on critical decisions.
- Act as an extension of the President/GM, Legal & Insurance, working closely with senior leaders to address cross-functional and enterprise-wide challenges.
- Amplify the impact of Operations teams,, ensuring they are engaged in valuable initiatives, providing visibility into their work, and enabling them to drive meaningful change.
- Identify and escalate key risks, ensuring leadership is aware of and proactively addressing technical, operational, and strategic challenges.
What You Bring To The Table
- Experience in a Chief of Staff role, Operations, or similar leadership role, preferably within a Healthcare or Technology driven organization.
- A hands-on approach—someone who can seamlessly switch between high-level strategy and detailed execution.
- A track record of leading and delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives that drive business impact.
- Exceptional organizational and operational skills, with experience managing multiple projects reporting, excellent Google Sheets/Slides (or Excel/PowerPoint) experience and executive-level meetings.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across teams, facilitate discussions, and drive alignment.
- Experience working with senior leadership and executive teams to solve big problems and elevate technical talent.
- A proactive mindset with a bias for action—you thrive in fast-paced environments and are comfortable navigating ambiguity.
- Exceptional project management skills: being organized and disciplined, showing attention to detail, and following up doggedly to ensure the right results
- Business savvy, including an understanding of the marketplace, competitors, and technology and what is required for sustained operating result
