Location: For this role we are open to candidates who have flexibility to work on hybrid basis from our office in Galway City two to three days per week.
The Team and Your Role
We're a diverse team that believes AI innovation creates value through intelligent solutions. We're seeking an AI/ML Engineer to design and deliver innovative AI/ML solutions in a cloud environment, leveraging advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems, influence project direction in a collaborative environment.
What You Will Do
Design, develop, and deploy high-quality Python/Java services in AWS Cloud, as well as contributing to AI/ML feature development and integrating AI/ML models into production systems
Collaborate with the team to design and build scalable services, create documentation, and develop RESTful APIs for Genesys Cloud users
Own features end-to-end from design through to deployment, engaging in all phases of agile software delivery while building alignment among multiple stakeholders
Provide constructive feedback, mentor Associate SDEs, and champion CI/CD, testing, and security practices
Learn and implement emerging AI/ML technologies, contribute to release process improvements, and share knowledge across the team
Required Skills & Experience
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience), with minimum 2 years of software engineering experience
Strong Python/Java skills with solid understanding design patterns, data structures, and algorithms, plus experience of machine learning concepts and familiarity with at least one AI/ML framework
Experience with AWS fundamentals (S3, EC2), RESTful API development, microservices architecture concepts, and hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling and Git version control
Effective communicator who builds stakeholder alignment and thrives in agile teams with active participation in code reviews
Self-motivated problem solver with natural curiosity, enthusiasm for continuous learning, clean code principles, and sharing knowledge with teammates
Demonstrated awareness of modern AI technologies and their implications (safety, privacy, reliability), with role-appropriate skills developed through internal training and applied practice
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, AI/ML model deployment, MLOps practices, or hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks in production environments
Experience with event-driven architecture, advanced microservices patterns, serverless computing (AWS Lambda), or knowledge of DevOps and SRE principles beyond basic CI/CD
Experience with data analysis tools, data streaming platforms (Kafka), building ML pipelines, or familiarity with AI/ML analytics frameworks
Previous experience mentoring developers, leading technical discussions across teams, or improving development processes
An awkward sense of humor and collaborative mindset (we appreciate authenticity!)
