Description of Work

This position is located at Orange Correctional Center in Hillsborough, NC. Orange County. Orange Correctional Center is a male minimum custody facility. Reporting to the Associate Warden of Operations, employees in this class are responsible for supervision of Correctional Food Service Officers and providing oversight of inmates performing large-scale food production at minimum custody prison facilities.

Key Duties Included:

- Daily supervision of regular and therapeutic diets for the offender population.
- Create a plan, direct, and supervise the daily preparation and serving of food to offenders.
-Work includes food preparation and serving, storage, menu planning, menu planning using substitutions, maintaining sanitation requirements, and related recordkeeping.
- Manage inventory and other food service procedures and task using a computerize food and nutrition software system to prepare and serve daily meal.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Range: $37,377.00 - $65,408.00

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

• Documented experience in sanitation, preparing menus, managing inventory, and/or other large-scale food service production activities.

• Documented supervision of employees and/or offender workers.

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum, medium, close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety, security, and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff, program facilitators, and administrative personnel.
