Cruise is actively seeking a Senior R&D Engineering Technician to support research and development operations and testing in Phoenix Arizona. We are a dynamic team that is supporting development and testing in the autonomous vehicle field.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
Prepare and support vehicle testing assets for daily test routines: perform software and hardware updates, confirm proper configuration.
Perform electro-mechanical functions and activities: troubleshooting, retrofits, updates and modifications.
Support engineering teams for assembling and installing equipment for vehicle testing and mapping.
Maintain documentation around processes for test and maintenance procedures.
Set up equipment and test fixtures, operate and maintain equipment used for testing.
Perform other prototype autonomous vehicle platform related duties as necessary.
Observe all safety standards. Maintain a secure, safe, clean and healthy work environment. Follow operating instructions, use protective equipment when required, and use equipment and materials properly. Actively strive to prevent accidents and injuries.

You are expected to:
Prioritize safety and maintain a safety-first mindset, while following all safe work practices and policies.
Have driven a motor vehicle in the U.S. for the three years immediately preceding your application, currently holding an active Arizona driver’s license, and no more than one point on your driving record.
Safely operate vehicles in accordance with Cruise safety protocols and applicable law. This includes, but is not limited to, having a sufficient range of motion to frequently turn a steering wheel, operate the accelerator and brake, check blind spots and evaluate the environment, and maintain appropriate air bag clearance.
Regularly perform physical work including, but not limited to, stooping, lifting, and moving up to 30 pounds, and walking up and down flights of stairs/step ladder
Give and receive clear, prompt, and understandable verbal and written communications.
Have a high degree of computer literacy and be able to navigate through multiple accounts and windows quickly, using common keyboard shortcuts, and using various software programs.
Be organized and detail oriented.
Learn quickly and apply training immediately.
Be inquisitive - ask questions and seek truth when needed.
You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:
5+ years technical experience in electro-mechanical, computer, automotive, marine electronics, robotics, or aerospace industries.
Working technical knowledge of some or all of the following systems: 12V/ CAN architecture; networking architecture; high voltage battery and ancillary systems; camera, radar, and LIDAR sensor suites and related interconnections
Education in Engineering Technology or trade school major. BS, AS, technology trade certificate, or work experience equivalent preferred
Proficient working knowledge of computer based terminal commands.
Familiarity with and ability to use general shop, automotive, and diagnostic tools.
Strong working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
Ability to work in a cooperative team setting with aggressive goals and ambitious timelines.
Time management and priority driven development skills. Focus, attention to detail, and require minimal guidance to complete tasks.
Have strong communication skills, are organized and team oriented
