The Opportunity:
Building on over 30 years of industry experience, Roche Custom Biotech uses the powerful multi‐disciplinary skills found in Roche facilities across the world. The team offers products and solutions for manufacturers in the diagnostics and pharma biotech industry ranging from raw materials to system solutions for bioprocessing. Our Field Application Specialists act as consultative technical experts working closely with customers across our instrumentation, products, and services for the biopharmaceutical, cell therapy, and in vitro diagnostics industries.
As a Field Application Specialist you will:
Implement solutions for Cedex instruments and reagents designed for bioprocess control in research, development, and GMP production. Use you scientific expertise and independent judgement to analyze customer needs and solve problems that arise before, during, and after implementation.
Conduct tailored customer training on the use and maintenance of equipment, applications, and IT products.
Act as the Roche liaison and technical expert with customers on all consultative, administrative, and technical matters for assigned products.
Provide technical consultation to the commercial team in pre-sale activities with customers and lead regular customer communication updates/meetings.
Support commercial activities by promoting Roche solutions and identifying opportunities for new system consumables and competitive system replacements.
Engage in project management activities including the development of new products and initiatives.
Uphold and continuously improve the Roche Quality System.
Acquire advanced and specialized knowledge of particular areas, systems, or equipment with regard to technologically advanced instruments and scientific applications.
The ideal candidate to live in Indianapolis, IN area or the greater Indianapolis area. Ability to travel nationwide up to 50%.
Who You Are:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Cell Biology or Biochemistry, or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, and/or relevant experience
3 years of previous experience in a clinical laboratory or IT in a clinical lab environment
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Bioprocessing Science, or related field
3 years of previous laboratory experience in life sciences, pharma, biotechnology, bioprocessing, or related field
Ability to learn Roche solutions (i.e. chemistry, immunology, molecular, enzymes, IT solutions), and stay current with industry trends
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Can work as a field based individual contributor with independence and autonomy
M.S., Ph.D., or relevant experience in life sciences, pharma / biotechnology, bioprocessing science, cell and gene therapy, or Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
Effective customer consultative skills which includes advanced scientific knowledge and analysis, exceptional customer engagement, and fostering of strong customer relationships.
Ability to travel up to 50%

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indiana is $63,800-$118,400. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan for the role.
