Job Details:

Purpose

This position will provide administrative and faculty support, facilitate new initiatives, and coordinate special programs in the School of Human Ecology (SoHE). The position will also be responsible for coordinating all special projects, events, scholarship administration and communications in the School of Human Ecology (SoHE).

Responsibilities

  • Administer scholarship awards for the School of Human Ecology: Coordinate with CNS Dean’s Office to obtain information on scholarship applicants, provide scholarship applicant information to the scholarship committees in the School of Human Ecology and committees in each unit of the School. Allocate scholarships to students based on recommendations from the scholarship committees and process scholarship award payments (SS1) in FRMS. Administer special SoHE scholarships independent of annual CNS scholarships procedures.

  • Create, design, and deliver weekly student newsletter as well as periodic communication to the wider community. Create and conduct outreach campaigns and promotion of SoHE programs and events. Provide support for departmental recruitment initiatives that involve multiple University of Texas departments and offices.

  • Strategically plan and coordinate a comprehensive year-long calendar to support school initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Oversee the execution of monthly internal and external events, including community-building efforts, to effectively meet the School's needs. Additionally, manage and coordinate various on and off-campus activities and special events such as School Advisory Council (SAC) Meetings, SoHE Week, freshman recruitment and orientation outreach, Family Weekend, and SoHE Commencement Reception. Direct all aspects of financial management and event planning.

  • Lead special projects, often transitioning into special events, including, but not limited to: IRIS: The Coloring Book, SoHE study abroad programs, SoHE Ambassadors organization and undergraduate student organizations, SoHE Honors Program, SoHE Alumni & Mentor Speakers Series, materials and special collections inventories, SoHE historical archives, staff and faculty health and wellness programming, and other special projects as assigned. Manages all aspects of financial management, stakeholder expectations, and event planning

  • Create, update, and maintain School of Human Ecology website and social media posts (X, Facebook, Instagram) in conjunction with CNS.

  • Coordinate all aspects of the School Advisory Committee, overseeing the organization of social events and business meetings, while maintaining clear and effective communication with all members. Additionally, manage meeting agendas, donations, and other administrative tasks.

  • Amplify and promote events through liaison with SoHE external and outreach programs (e.g., internships and practicum, UT Nutrition Institute, Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Human Ecology, Communications, Education, International Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field. Five years of experience coordinating or administering an academic program. Ability to consistently exercise good judgment and relate constructively to students, staff, and faculty. Ability to work independently and with limited supervision. Demonstrated accuracy and follow-through on work assignments. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong public speaking skills. Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities and periodic interruptions. Computer proficiency. Professional appearance and demeanor. Demonstrated strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a team. Demonstrated punctuality and regular work attendance.
