Corporate Finance Transformation and Solutions is looking for a Product Owner II to join the initiative to modernize enterprise financial data. In this role, you will serve as the voice of the customer, working closely with business leaders, data governance, and engineering teams to translate complex financial data requirements into prioritized, actionable work. You’ll collaborate across portfolios to ensure the development of innovative, governed data solutions on modern platforms. Your efforts will directly enable accurate, accessible, and insightful financial data for reporting and analytics, supporting critical decision-making across Liberty Mutual. Key Responsibilities:
- Customer & Stakeholder Partnership: Partner with leaders, business stakeholders, technology partners, and Data Strategy and Governance to deeply understand customer problems, define product vision, and align strategic priorities related to financial data modeling, governance, and cloud data platforms.
- Backlog & Delivery Ownership: Own and maintain a prioritized product backlog that translates complex financial data and engineering requirements into clear, actionable user stories with acceptance criteria. Manage scope and trade-offs to maximize delivered value and ensure the team’s focus on the most impactful work.
- Agile Team Collaboration: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, demos, retrospectives), facilitating communication between stakeholders and the squad. Remove roadblocks, clarify requirements, and support continuous alignment on product goals and strategy.
- Cross-Portfolio Alignment: Collaborate to align data needs and priorities in alignment with overall Finance Data Strategy and Global Finance Technologies North Star Architecture. Negotiate dependencies and priorities across internal and external teams to support integrated delivery.
- Product Health & Metrics: Define, monitor, and communicate product-level KPIs and health metrics. Balance short- and long-term value delivery with costs, risks, and compliance requirements. Analyze feasibility, cost of delay, and economic trade-offs to support informed decision-making.
- Governance & Compliance: Understand regulatory, compliance, and industry constraints impacting financial data products. Incorporate these considerations into prioritization and delivery planning to ensure high-quality, compliant data solutions.
- Customer-Driven Design: Lead customer-driven design (CDD) and usability testing efforts with stakeholders and end-users to validate solutions meet business needs and usability expectations. Incorporate feedback to iterate on the product.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Foster an experimental mindset to drive innovation in data solutions amidst uncertainty. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhanced governance in data modeling and provisioning workflows.
- Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Partner with the Data Solutions team to ensure comprehensive documentation of data definitions, transformations, and product roadmaps. Support knowledge transfer and change management activities to facilitate adoption and operational excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or equivalent role within Agile teams delivering data products, preferably in financial services or insurance, as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, data governance principles, and cloud data platforms (AWS, Redshift, Snowflake), enabling effective collaboration with data modelers and data engineers.
- Familiarity with financial data, insurance domain knowledge, or financial services required.
- Proven ability to translate complex business and technical requirements into actionable work with clear acceptance criteria.
- Experience managing product backlogs and facilitating Agile ceremonies in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, proficient in influencing and aligning diverse groups including business, IT, and finance leaders.
