Job Description:

At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Server & Compute Platform Engineering Services.  As a Virtualization Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical/virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc. Yes

In this role, a typical day will include:

· Designs and builds virtual environment service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service. Yes

· Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications: automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability Yes

· Designs, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN. Yes

· Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications Yes

· Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations

· Develops system architecture and system design documentation

· Interacts with the Government regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts

· Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility

What you’ll need:

· Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly

· DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification:  Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security.

· Education:  Bachelor of Science Degree, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.

· 10 years’ of related experience (if we are sourcing for a Virtualization Engineer Level 3)

· Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM

· Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking

· Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs

· VMware Certified Professional certification (required or not?) Yes required as that is still the main system that we are using now.

· What skills/technical background should we source for?

· I think we should still source the same way we do for VMware just need to change the title and maybe say something about willing to learn new virtualization technologies.

The likely salary range for this position is $148,750 - $201,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
