We are looking for a Senior Manager, Safety Management Systems to join our team. The goal of an Senior Manager, Safety Management Systems at Wisk is to ensure that programs are implemented and maintained in accordance with FAA and international standards and best practices. You will be part of the Certification and Safety Management System team and will work to ensure the safety objectives of the company are met in support of the Safety Management System.

In this role, the candidate must be collaborative, proactive, forward thinking and self-motivated with the ability to inspire and lead by influence a team of like-minded team members.

What you will do:

  • As part of the Safety Management System (SMS) organization you will act as a manager and leader of the safety management system for an organization developing and operating a novel type of aircraft targeting the autonomous UAM market.
  • You will take part in the development and implementation of SMS initiatives in accordance with ICAO Annex 19 and 14 CFR Part 5; to include Safety Risk Management (SRM), Safety Assurance (SA), Safety Policy and Safety Promotion.
  • You will support your team to collaborate with the various parts of the organization in implementing, maintaining and ensuring compliance with the SMS
  • You will help support accident investigation activities when requested or if independence is required.
  • You will help coordinate Safety Review Board meetings with leadership and other required stakeholders.
  • You will help coordinate Safety Committee and Safety Action Group meetings when requested.
  • You will ensure safety related information, including organizational goals and objectives are made available to all personnel through established communication processes.
  • You will develop safety data standards, processes, tools and analysis.
  • You will take part in promoting safety and just culture throughout the organization.
  • You will liaison with the Environmental Health and Safety team on items including safety reporting, risk assessment, and safety investigations.
  • You will interface with company leadership, employees, contractors, regulators, and industry partners in support of company safety objectives.
  • You will participate in industry and government led safety working groups.
  • You will plan and execute the budget and roadmap for the SMS team.
  • As a people leader, you will participate in employee goal setting and development activities.

What you have done:

  • B.S. in a STEM discipline or equivalent industry experience with at least 5 years of experience in aviation safety or other risk assessment/management related field.
  • You have experience leading people.
  • You have worked developing, implementing, or within a Safety Management System or related system.
  • You have hands-on experience with Emergency Response Program (ERP) development and implementation.
  • You have experience in developing and delivering safety training programs.
  • You have led teams who achieved influence through cross-functional collaboration in an organization to implement processes and procedures.

Desired:

  • You are familiar with flight operations in a flight test environment.
  • You have experience interfacing with the FAA or another regulatory agency.
