The Agency for Health Care Administration is Florida's chief health policy and planning entity. The Agency is responsible for administering the Florida Medicaid program, the licensure and regulation of nearly 50,000 health care facilities, and empowering consumers through health care transparency initiatives.

 

Under the direction of Agency Secretary Shevaun L. Harris, the Agency is focused on advancing Governor DeSantis’ vision for Florida’s health care system to be the most cost-effective, transparent, and high-quality health care system in the nation. Current Agency initiatives include implementing Florida’s groundbreaking Canadian Prescription Drug Importation Program, overhauling Florida’s healthcare technological ecosystem, and increasing insight in the cost of health care services.

This is an independent nursing function in highly specialized programs involving health care programs and facilities. This professional position is responsible for a multi-program survey process. This survey process includes conducting on-site surveys of a variety of health care facilities to determine compliance with federal and state licensure, certification and inspection of care requirements, implementing utilization control functions of Title XVIII and Title XIX programs where applicable and reviewing/evaluating the quality of care and services provided to all clients in the facilities surveyed.

 

This position has been identified as mission essential. The incumbent in this position may be required to work during the weekend or on holidays. In addition, mission essential personnel will be required to work during disasters, to include but not limited to, work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency work may involve the incumbent to work in another county or staffing location to assist other State Agencies with emergency work. Emergency duties may include, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

 

The position may be required to perform these duties as a team leader, team member or individually as assigned.

 

This incumbent in this position may be required to successfully complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test within the first 12 months of employment (or as assigned) as required by Sections 1819(g)(s) (ii) of the Social Security Act, as amended, and Article IV(B) of the Agreement pursuant to Section 1864 of the Social Security Act.

 

In accordance with 400.275, F.S., each member of a nursing home survey team who is a health professional licensed under Chapter 464 of the Florida Statutes shall earn not less than 50 percent of required continuing education credits in geriatric care.

 

Conducts on-site multi-programs surveys, identifying appropriate provision of medical/nursing and related services to ensure the provision of quality patient care based on current administrative rules and statutes promulgated by the State of Florida, the federal government and standard professional practice. Program involvement may include, but is not limited to: Title XVIII, Medicare; Title XIX, Medicaid; and licensure of all health care facility types for which the Division of Managed Care and Health Quality, Health Facility Compliance is responsible. Performance of these duties may be accomplished independently, as a team member or as an appointed team leader.
