Computer Science | Data Science Internship (non-thesis): Scientific Code Development in GitHub

Then this internship might be interesting to you!</p><p></p><h2><b>Background information</b></h2><p>ASML is the world's leading manufacturer for semiconductor lithography machines, which are used to produce computer chips for both logic and memory. Our cutting-edge technology is key to powering not just the current, but also the next generation of electronic devices. Metrology is a critical part of the lithography process, which involves measurement and characterization of various components and processes involved during chip production.<span> </span>Our advanced metrology techniques include high-precision sensors coupled to complex software algorithms, which enable accurate and reliable sub-nanometer measurements of critical lithography parameters such as overlay, focus and critical dimension.<span> </span><br/> </p><h2><b>Your assignment</b></h2><p>ASML functional engineers develop and test code locally on their system, followed by packaging into a patch and integrating it into the machine environment. The ASML software stack has grown tremendously over the years, both in size and complexity. To track the health of our functional codebase, we have set up autotesters that run periodically and generate useful reports. We are also transitioning towards more modern and scalable version control hosted on GitHub. The goal of this internship assignment is to help set up a state-of-the-art code migration framework.<span>  </span><br/><br/><span>For this assignment, some of your tasks will include:</span></p><ul><li><p>Understand the current way of working with regards to the functional code development;</p></li><li><p>Improve the state of unit testers, test framework and reporting;</p></li><li><p>Migrate selected software components to GitHub, develop test workflows and generate documentation;</p></li><li><p>Write a report summarizing the results, and present it to the group.</p></li></ul><p></p><h2><b>Your profile</b></h2><p>To be a match for this internship, you:</p><ul><li><p><span>Are busy with your bachelor's or master's in </span>Computer Science, Data Science or related;</p></li><li><p><span>Are skilled in GitHub and GitHub actions (</span>mention link to your GitHub account in CV or cover letter<span>);</span></p></li><li><p><span>Are able to code in </span>MATLAB, Julia or Python;</p></li><li><p>Are familiar with Continuous Integration - Delivery;</p></li><li><p><span>Are eager to learn and with a proactive mindset; </span></p></li><li><p><span>Have good communication skills in English (verbal and written).</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p>This is an apprentice internship for 3-5 days a week (3 days onsite) with a duration of 3 to 6 months.
