This position oversees all aspects of the external financial statement audits of AAA Northeast and subsidiaries. The incumbent is responsible for oversight of third-party auditing firms that perform services for AAANE and subsidiaries. This oversight includes managing schedules, reviewing work, ensuring timeliness, quality, reporting out on results, etc. The incumbent also performs any functions necessary, within the scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service to co-workers and AAA Northeast leadership.

What you will do:

  • Coordinates, facilitates, and oversees the completion of the annual audits of financial statements by independent auditors; acts as main liaison for any external financial statement audits that exist within the club’s legal entity structure. In this capacity, the incumbent will be responsible for full life-cycle of coordinating external auditors, providing access to AAA Northeast financial statements, responding to inquiries from independent auditors, receiving final audit documentation and determination, and reporting out to Finance-Accounting and Club leadership on results.
  • Preparation and issuance of financial statements on a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis and tracking and coordination of all ancillary reporting requirements as prescribed by the federal, state, and other regulatory partners.
  • Responsible for coordination of and preparation of all audit documentation, schedules, and work papers for efficient completion of annual audit and any other third-party audit or review engagements. This includes working with a cross-functional group within Finance to accurately gather and present all documentation required for auditing/review, responding to inquiries regarding documentation, identifying and correcting any reporting or process inefficiencies or inaccuracies, and fully understanding the results in order to present findings to Finance-Accounting and Club leadership upon completion.
  • Maintains proficiency in GAAP accounting and reporting and has experience in performing accounting research and implementing new procedures and disclosures. Keeps finance staff apprised of any new reporting/accounting requirements. Recommends procedural changes to support prescribed requirements.
  • Provides leadership and oversight from an audit perspective to financial operations, financial accounting, property accounting, financial reporting . Performs audit tracking to include developing management response, tracking findings through resolution and performing corrective action validation. Coordinating and providing direction for special projects or ad-hoc reporting requests for Financial Reporting.

Qualifications

Education

 

  • Bachelor's Degree Accounting required
  • Master's Degree Business Administration preferred

 

 

Experience

 

  • 6+ years Public or General Corporate Accounting environment with audit experience required
  • 2+ years financial statement preparation required
  • 1+ years of project management
