About the role

Description

Job Summary

The Senior Buyer is responsible for the planning and purchasing of raw materials supporting all productions operations as well as the direct purchase of assigned finished goods. This position will manage select suppliers to ensure on-time delivery at competitive pricing while managing appropriate inventory levels in alignment with SIOP processes to prevent shortages and maximize turns. 


This role will report to the Senior Manager, Supply Chain.


Essential Job Functions

  

  • Negotiating terms, Service Level Agreements, contracts, agreements and prices with suppliers and freight companies, monitoring and assessing their performance and maintaining cost-effective practices
  • Implementing logistic strategies and supply chain planning, tracking goods from the origination point to the warehouse 
  • Identifying and minimizing risk by predicting the demand for products and adopting new technology with no interruption to the process
  • Managing inventory, tracking stock levels, orders, operations, and performance through ERP software to ensure targets for packing, kitting and distributing are met 
  • Developing KPI’s, safety guidelines, teaching and enforcing the protocols and reporting in line with the companies Goals and Objectives.
  • Prepare forecasts and reports for company's senior management team 
  • Assist in recruiting and training a team of supply chain staff in Hereford.
  • Input to the Quality System Management Control, including putting together work process and stores product specifications for product QCs 
  • Input sourcing and supply chain considerations into new product development to ensure smooth transition to market 
  • Input sourcing and supply chain considerations into potential new business opportunities 
  • Work with Finance to coordinate Purchasing 
  • Assist and ensure all receiving activities are performed in full including Quality Control Checks of incoming goods including delivery evaluations 
  • Annual reporting and supplier evaluations through management review 
  • Continual Stock control optimization 
  • Review of maintenance and monitoring schedules for facilities 
  • Compliance with ISO13485, ISO9001, GMP, GDP, MHRA and Home Office standards and regulations 


Requirements

Qualifications / Skills / Experience  

  • Degree/Diploma in Supply Chain Management or relevant purchasing/business degree
  • Previous experience and success working within a Supply Chain role
  • Sound commercial acumen and effective negotiation skills
  • An effective communicator with exceptional customer service and influencing skills
  • Proven analytical skills and proficient in completing supplier agreements
  • Technical knowledge and understanding of the medical industry – preferable
  • Experience with Incoterms
  • Experience of Sage 200 software
  • Experience of Microsoft D365
  • Experienced in using MS Office, such as Excel
  • Experience in stock and warehouse management 
  • Experience in dealing with overseas suppliers
  • Export Documentation training
  • UK Driving License

Physical Requirements

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed, domestically and internationally.
