JOB SUMMARY: MCSG is seeking an Operations Research Analyst (ORA) to serve as a Lessons Learned Specialist for the 392nd Combat Training Squadron’s (392 CTS) United States Space Force (USSF) Exercise Team at Schriever SFB, CO. This team supports the 392 CTS-led USSF exercises (e.g., SPACE FLAG (SF), POLARIS HAMMER (PH), Flashpoint, and SKIES series). These exercises are designed to prepare Guardians to execute operations in a realistic contested, degraded, and operationally limited (CDO) environment against a thinking and determined adversary. The ORA Lessons Learned Specialist will conduct an in-depth analysis of the results of 392 CTS-sponsored exercises to identify opportunities for continuous process improvements, inform USSF operations, training, and acquisition processes, and facilitate requirements generation for STARCOM’s future training capabilities. Location: Schriever SFB, CO.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Develops, implements, and maintains the 392 CTS USSF Exercise Lessons Learned (LL) and Continuous Process Improvement programs.
- Establishes liaisons with internal and external lesson learned stakeholders to leverage best practices, procedures, and techniques to accommodate data and information collection.
- Develops and implements data collection methods (e.g., exercise assessments, surveys, and data analysis) for 392 CTS-led exercises.
- Captures, analyzes, and reports observations and lessons learned identified during the design, planning, and execution of USSF exercises, Flashpoint events, and mission-focused events to inform and advise various levels of stakeholders on exercise outcomes and lessons learned.
- Recommends changes and improvements in the 392 CTS’s USSF exercise design, planning, execution, and assessment functions.
- Participates in STARCOM’s annual and quarterly ECT meetings.
- Attends USSF exercise-related meetings as requested by the Government.
- Supports hot wash debriefs and after-action report development after each USSF service-level exercise, Flashpoint event, or mission-focused event.
- Prepares event-related documents (i.e., trip reports, exercise planning/execution products, after-action reports, lessons learned, meeting minutes) within contractual time frames.
- Carries out other tasks as directed by contract leadership required to ensure 392 CTS mission success.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7 years of space experience.
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and interpretation, with the ability to derive actionable insights from large datasets.
- Experience with tools used for exercise planning and reporting (e.g., Joint Lessons Learned Information System (JLLIS), Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS), Joint Master Scenario Events List (JMSEL)).
- This position requires limited travel (less than 4-5 weeks/year).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5 years of experience in operations research, data analysis, or lessons learned programs.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE: 7-15 years of experience working in or for DoD organizations.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree preferred from an accredited institution.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Top Secret/SCI clearance with Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility.
