About the role

As a member of the academic affairs team, the assistant director of instructional support will provide leadership and coordination for educational technology resources for the Sellersburg campus, will provide robust and comprehensive digital accessibility and educational technology training for all faculty, and will serve as the point of contact and support for adjunct faculty from all disciplines. The person in this position will work closely with academic leadership to promote academic excellence through innovative instructional strategies, professional development, and the integration of educational technology.

Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000 (based on education and experience).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee instructional support services, faculty workshops, including adjunct faculty training and onboarding, and peer mentoring initiatives.
    • Collaborate with Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Assistant Director of Academic Support to coordinate new adjunct faculty onboarding orientation and training
    • Ensure clear communication between the College and all adjunct faculty about policies, required faculty reporting, student success initiatives, faculty resources, etc.
  • Collaborate with faculty to implement evidence-based teaching practices that improve student engagement and success.
  • Provide technical support and training for faculty in utilizing digital tools and resources.
  • Facilitate training sessions on the use of learning management systems (LMS), digital accessibility, and other educational tools.
    • This includes support for all courses, self-paced learning modules, multimedia/interactive learning elements, accessibility standards, and other resources or tools.
  • Provide helpdesk support for the Learning Management System (LMS) and related integrations and educational technology tools for students, faculty and staff.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of the knowledge base for educational technology tools at the College.
  • Provide academic course quality assurance by conducting course audits and quality reviews at the direction of campus and/or IvyOnline leadership, as needed.
  • Lead the evaluation and adoption of educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Work with IT and academic departments to ensure the seamless integration of technology in classrooms.
  • Coordinate campus virtual bookstore services (eCampus)
  • Serve as primary point of contact for student needs and questions.
  • Coordinate communication to students and faculty to assist in eCampus material access for students.
  • Serve as campus liaison for eCampus staff and Systems Office points of contact.

Additional Duties

  • Frequently collaborate with other members of the academic support team as well as campus partners in academic and student affairs.
  • Demonstrate support for Ivy Tech Community College and its mission.
  • Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Instructional Technology or Design, or Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is required.
  • Knowledge of instructional design principles and educational technology tools that support traditional, hybrid, and online learning
  • Knowledge of various digital learning platforms such as learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, etc.), publisher platforms (Pearson’s MyLabs\Mastering, McGraw-Hill Connect, Cengage MindTap, etc.), and other platforms required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer application.
    • Knowledge of communication platforms such as email, instant messaging (Microsoft Teams, Slack), and synchronous webcast meeting tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoTo Meeting) is required.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills necessary to deliver technical information to a nontechnical audience.
  • Direct college classroom teaching experience
  • Available some weekday evening hours

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a community college setting
  • Master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or a related field
  • Successful completion of Quality Matters Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) and Higher Education Peer Reviewer Course (PRC) is preferred and will be required as part of ongoing professional development.
  • Knowledge of effective teaching practices/pedagogy and best practices in teaching and learning and/or training is preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and project
