Classroom Facilitator - Nephi

Overview

The Classroom Facilitator role at the Utah State University center in Nephi offers a dynamic opportunity within a supportive educational environment. This position operates on a flexible schedule, adapting to varying needs, and may entail working until 10:30 PM on select weekdays. Weekly hours will be under 28 hours per week, subject to change each semester, providing an adaptable work schedule.

 

Reporting Structure: Reporting directly to the Nephi Education Center Coordinator, the Classroom Facilitator plays a pivotal role in maintaining a conducive learning environment and supporting the center's educational initiatives.

 

Position Type: This position is classified as an ACA variable position, offering a platform for growth and development within a collaborative educational setting.

Responsibilities

The classroom facilitator serves a variety of functions in a classroom setting. Duties include:

• Operate Essential Classroom Equipment: Facilitate interactive video conference (IVC) classes by proficiently managing and operating classroom equipment crucial for seamless delivery.

• Technical Troubleshooting: Resolve technical glitches promptly, ensuring uninterrupted sessions by troubleshooting any issues with broadcast equipment.

• Effective Communication: Demonstrate versatile communication skills across various mediums—face-to-face, telephone, IVC equipment, electronic tools, and in writing—to support students and instructors effectively.

• Classroom Maintenance: Ensure a clean, sanitized learning environment by performing post-classroom sanitation, organizing materials, and maintaining a conducive atmosphere for learning.

• Material Distribution and Collection: Oversee the distribution and collection of classroom materials, proctor exams and quizzes, and uphold a conducive and peaceful learning atmosphere.

• Record-Keeping and Classroom Management: Maintain accurate class rolls, track classroom materials, and adhere to proper procedures to ensure organized and efficient classroom management.

• Liaison Role: Act as a bridge between students, university instructors, and administrators, facilitating effective communication and coordination among stakeholders.

• Adaptability and Additional Tasks: Remain flexible to undertake additional duties as assigned, contributing positively to the smooth functioning of the classroom environment.

The position requires considerable physical activity. Employees must have sufficient strength to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position including heavy lifting (50 pounds) and/or pushing and pulling of heavy objects.  Employees must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as crawling, kneeling, and squatting. Additionally, the work environment can include confined or narrow spaces. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
