About the role

About Auror

At Auror, we’re empowering the retail industry to tackle theft and Organised Retail Crime, a $150 Billion problem globally. It’s high volume crime that’s increasingly organised in nature and is putting people, retailers, and communities at risk every day.

Founded in New Zealand 12 years ago, we’re working with some of the best and largest retailers in the world across the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

Auror is connecting people and intelligence to reduce crime. We’re using technology for good.

In partnership with our leading retail partners, we need people with the passion, determination, and innovation required to overcome one of the world's largest problems. If you’re looking to make a difference with and for the people dedicated to stopping crime, for good, then we want you on our team.

We're also embracing the potential of AI to supercharge our impact—whether that's enhancing the way we detect trends, support our customers, or improve internal workflows. As a company, we're committed to responsibly incorporating AI into how we work and what we build, and we encourage all Aurors to be curious about how AI can elevate their work, regardless of role or function.

The Role

As our Finance Director, you’ll be responsible for leading our finance operations across North America and LATAM with a particular focus on the USA. You’ll play a critical role in driving financial excellence across these regions by ensuring operational accuracy, commercial insight, and scalable processes that empowers our business to grow.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Director, you’ll manage one direct report and collaborate closely with senior business leaders. You’ll be a trusted advisor and strategic partner, bringing a balance of commercial acumen, people leadership, and operational discipline to the role.

Practically, this will involve:

  • Leading the financial operations and reporting for North America and LATAM. The scope of the role may increase to also include the UK and Europe regions in the future.
  • Managing and developing your team, including one direct report, with a strong focus on growth, capability building, and career development
  • Partnering closely with senior commercial leaders (including CRO, VP of Sales, VP of Customer in the USA) to provide financial insights that inform strategy and drive business performance.
  • Driving initiatives to streamline financial operations, improve automation, and embed AI-enabled processes for better accuracy and efficiency
  • Overseeing month-end close and supporting forecasting to ensure informed decision-making around investments, resourcing, and regional growth.
  • Overseeing and approving payroll, expenses, AP & AR
  • Managing multi-currency consolidation to our NZ parent entity, ensuring alignment with IFRS group reporting standards
  • Overseeing tax compliance and coordination across regions, including working with local advisors to ensure statutory and regulatory obligations are met
  • Supporting business expansions into different geographies - evaluating finance and tax considerations, ensuring we manage risk and structure effectively.

This role reports to Craig Bott, Senior Finance Director

I joined Auror in 2024 after returning from 7 years working in London. I’ve come from some larger corporate organisations and I love being part of the team at Auror where every day looks a bit different and the work and decisions I make have a noticeable  impact on our team and the wider business. Outside of work, I am a proud Dad of two young boys. On the weekends we love to go out adventuring, often to find a new playground or icecream spot. Thankfully I enjoy running to balance out my serious sweet tooth!
