In conjunction with the Assistant Director of ECSC, the Lead Delivery Driver is responsible for coordinating the daily schedule and time off requests of the Delivery Services drivers to ensure a successful operation in the delivery of mail, packages, and people across Campus and throughout the community.

The Lead Delivery Driver serves as the Delivery Services Dispatcher, redirecting drivers as needed to meet changes in daily scheduled driver activity. Performs scheduling of CULift rides and RedRunner courier services. The individual is a back-up delivery driver for pickup and delivery of campus mail to and from campus buildings and the metering/sorting facility at Solidago Rd. This involves picking up and delivering US Mail to the US Postal office on Warren Road and the transport of customers, (faculty, staff, and CULift patrons) or materials for Cornell Community Members to on-campus locations or local sites.

The Lead Delivery Driver provides exceptional customer service to the campus community.

This is an endowed, union position within the United Automobile, Aerospace, and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW). The starting pay rate is $26.64/hour.

We require these qualifications:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalency.

  • Must have 3-4 years of demonstrated driving experience, which includes driving with passengers and delivering packages.

  • Must have demonstrated experience in effectively leading a team.

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.

  • Have the ability to drive effectively in all weather conditions.

  • Able to lift and/or move 50 lbs.

  • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers in a positive manner.

  • Ability to work productively both independently and in a team environment.

  • Proven success in working well under pressure and excellent attention to detail.

  • Proven effectiveness and proficiency with scheduling and prioritization of workload.

  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

  • Familiarity with Cornell University campus and surrounding areas.
