At Secure Data, the vCIO role is designed for a true Visionary—someone who can walk into a room of executives, speak their language, then turn around and help a technical team execute with clarity and precision. You’re equal parts strategist and translator, business partner and technology advocate. You live in the future but deliver in the now.
A Day in the Life of a Secure Data vCIO: You might kick off the morning reviewing a client's roadmap with their CFO, then shift to a virtual whiteboard session with our engineers to map a cloud strategy. After lunch, you’re on a call helping a client navigate a compliance challenge, and by the afternoon, you’re presenting migration metrics and next-phase planning to an executive team. You are part leader, part visionary, and fully engaged in moving business forward through smart tech.

What You’ll Own
1. Strategic IT Planning
- Regularly engage with client leadership to understand where their business is headed.
- Build and evolve 36-month technology roadmaps that anticipate needs, not just react.
- Identify transformation opportunities that improve workflows, scalability, and profitability.
- Develop and manage IT budgets that align with financial cycles and strategic plans.
- Recommend investments that cut waste, improve ROI, and strengthen business agility.
- Know when to say, “not yet” and when to push for change.
- Evaluate client environments for vulnerabilities—both technical and procedural.
- Lead clients through frameworks like NIST, CIS, HIPAA, or whatever their world demands.
- Translate compliance jargon into executable strategies that protect reputation and data.
- Oversee high-visibility efforts like SharePoint migrations, cloud adoption, and infrastructure refreshes.
- Guide engineers, PMs, and vendors to hit milestones without losing sight of the big picture.
- Keep clients informed with confidence—not fluff.
- Be the voice of IT at the client table—trusted, proactive, and easy to follow.
- Anticipate needs before they speak.
- Drive real results and long-term partnerships with measurable business impact.
Education: MBA or equivalent master’s degree in business, Information Systems, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership, consulting, or strategic advisory roles
- Strong knowledge of enterprise IT ecosystems, including cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or M365), networking, infrastructure, and cybersecurity best practices
