About the role

Overview

The Senior Manager of Loss Prevention (SMLP) is responsible for safeguarding company assets, reducing shrink, and ensuring the safety and security of employees, customers, and facilities across the organization. This role involves implementing and enforcing loss prevention policies, providing training and support to regional, district and store teams, and all distribution and fulfillment operations. The SMLP will work closely to align with the Home Office/Corporate Loss Prevention team with field and operational teams to maintain compliance and drive results consistently across the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities      

  • Support the “Cavender’s Culture” and drive our Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Develop and execute strategies to minimize shrink through effective operational compliance and loss prevention programs.
  • Partner with store, district, regional and corporate teams to identify shrinkage trends and implement targeted action plans.
  • Create effective audits and instructions to ensure adherence to policies and procedures that mitigate risk and loss in the organization.
  • Review tactics and effectiveness of investigations into internal and external theft, fraud, and policy violations, utilizing tools such as CCTV, point-of-sale analytics, and employee interviews.
  • Orchestrate company partnership with law enforcement, ensuring productive and professional outcomes.
  • Design and ensure delivery of loss prevention training to store, district, regional and corporate teams, focusing on theft deterrence, operational excellence, and safety awareness.
  • Create appropriate loss prevention policies, including cash handling procedures and safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Act as a leader, mentor and resource for RLPMs and corporate LP staff.
  • Monitor and minimize workplace incidents by identifying common hazards and enforcing preventive measures across the company.
  • Act as a liaison between the corporate loss prevention team and field operations to ensure consistent implementation of policies and programs.
  • Build strong relationships with regional and district managers, fostering a culture of accountability and awareness.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on loss prevention initiatives, progress, and challenges.
  • Conduct district visits to ensure RLPM effectiveness and operational compliance with loss prevention and policies.
  • Review trends and develop strategies to counter threats. Provide actionable and effective feedback to operational leadership.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of loss prevention technologies (CCTV, alarm systems, EAS equipment), and report any deficiencies to Corporate Loss Prevention for corrective action.
  • Recommend technology upgrades or new solutions to improve security and reduce shrink.
  • Promote a culture of honesty, integrity, and accountability within the team.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in multi-unit loss prevention, asset protection, safety, security management, or a related field. Progressive success in operations and corporate environments.
  • Strong knowledge of loss prevention strategies, retail security practices, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to lead investigations, resolve cases effectively, and reduce internal and external theft.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the assigned region for store visits and audits.
  • Familiarity with loss prevention technologies and security systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in criminal justice, business, or a related field is preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel, up to 25%.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field
  • Experience managing a team of loss prevention professionals.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices for theft deterrence and incident management.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
  • Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
